BOARDMAN
There will be services on Monday, July 14 at 9 a.m. at the Rossi Brothers
& Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian
Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church,
Youngstown with Rev. Msgr. Michael Cariglio officiating for Joseph P.
Zack, 86, who passed away Thursday, July 10.
Joseph was born March 18, 1922 in Geners, Pa., the son of Frank and Antoinette
(Janis) Zaklukiewicz.
He was a self-employed Barber for 35 years and served his country with
the United States Army during WWII. Joseph earned an Asiatic-
Pacific Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Star, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon,
a Good Conduct Ribbon, a Victory Medal, and Meritorius Unit
Award.
He was a member of the church, American Legion Lake Milton Post, Legion
of Mary and the Legion Curia.
He played Professional Baseball for the Brooklyn
Dodgers Minor League in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Joseph was a huge
fan of baseball.
He will be missed but remembered always and loved by all his family and
many friends, including his wife, the former Margaret Lucarell, whom he
married Nov. 16, 1995; three daughters, Linda (Roger) Trivett of Tuscon,
Ariz., Lorraine (Gordon) Markoweich and Valerie Anderson, both of Medina;
eight grandchildren; a sister, Sonia Janis of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers,
Robert (Catherine) Zack and Paul Zack, both of Boardman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ila (Owens)
Zack; four brothers, John, Henry, Carl, and Edward; and three sisters,
Ann, Rose, and Lottie.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm on Sunday, July 13 at the funeral home.
