YOUNG, William Harmon 89, went to heaven on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010. He was born in 1921 in Dubar, WV and came to Tampa in 1951 after a career playing minor league baseball.

Harmon was a proud Marine and American who served his country during WWII and was seldom seen without his Marine cap. His later career was as a painter and wallpaper hanger.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie; son, Robert and 2 great- grandchildren. Harmon is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy E. Young; two sons, William H. Young Jr. (Chris) of Pensacola and Jerry Young (Linda) of New Port Richey; two step-sons, Terry Ferguson (Joann) of Tampa and Larry Ferguson (Toni) of Sarasota; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was a devout Christian and prayer warrior who wanted everyone to know how great his Lord is.

Per his request, there will be no local services. His ashes will be buried in a ceremony 1:30 pm Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
