Rickey Partee Young,
58, of Cabarrus Ave., Mooresville, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at his
home. Born on March 18, 1950, in Mooresville, he was the son of the late
Junie Partee Young and Mary Starnes Young.
Rick was a graduate of Mooresville High School and received a full scholarship
to Clemson University to play football. He then went on to play professional
baseball for the Texas Rangers.
Rick was employed by Duke Energy as a nuclear engineer for 23 years and
was self-employed for the last 11 years.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cynthia Stout Young; children,
Jason Young, of Miami, Haven Young Russ and husband, Jacob, of Mooresville;
and Orazio Fava, of Mooresville; sisters, Iris Fisher, of Badin Lake,
and Sharon Barreras, of Aiken, S.C.; and grandchildren, Braxdon and Talon
Russ.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at St. Patrick's Episcopal
Church, Mooresville, with the Rev. Rachel Haynes officiating. The family
will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mooresville High School
Athletic Department, Attn: Barclay Marsh, 659 E. Center Ave., Mooresville,
NC 28115.
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home of Mooresville is serving the family of Mr. Young.
