Tony William Yorio, 86, of Painted Post, NY, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at his home. Born August 28, 1921 in Corning, Tony was the youngest of five children to Joan Crisci and Rosario Yorio. He graduated from Northside High School in 1942.

After graduation he joined the U.S. Army Air Force in Denver, Colorado until 1946. Following his military career, Tony had offers to play professional baseball as a pitcher with the Detroit Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago Cubs. He signed with the Cubs, where he played one year in the Canadian-American league. His career was
cut short due to a shoulder injury.

He later returned to Corning, where he helped his brother-in-law at the Corning Fruit & Vegetable Market and the Star Market. Burial will be in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery in Painted Post, NY.
