Jerry F. Wright, 78, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at his home in Shawnee.

He was born Aug. 31, 1934, to Jewel D. and Velta B. (Rainwater) Wright in Fort Smith, Ark.

Jerry was raised in Fort Smith where he attended grade school and graduated from high school.

He married Ruth Tade on Jan. 7, 1955, in Fort Smith, and she preceded him in death May 29, 1999.

Jerry was a minor league baseball pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was self-employed as an auto mechanic at White Way Garage in Shawnee for over 20 years.

Jerry loved hunting, camping, fishing, yard work, walking and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Velta Wright; wife, Ruth Wright; and two brothers.

Jerry is survived by his two daughters and sons-inlaw, Terri and Ron Green, of Chelsea, and Sherri and Jim Goble, of Norman; two sons, Jerry H. Wright, of Ohio and Aaron Wright, of Claremore; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
