Lloyd F. Woodling, died peacefully on June 9, 2009, after a two-year illness. He was born on Jan. 29, 1933, in Stroudsburg, and was the son of Mildred E. and Elmer M. Woodling.

Lloyd and his wife, the former, Mary Alice Steele, would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on June 18, 2009.

After serving in the U.S. Army for two years, Lloyd earned a Bachelor's Degree at East Stroudsburg University and a Master's Degree in Mathematics at Bucknell University. For 12 years, he taught in the Loyalsock Township School District, and then 23 years at the Pennsylvania College of Technology as an Associate Professor of Mathematics.

During the summer months of both his Army and college careers, Lloyd was a minor league pitcher with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He continued his interest in baseball while coaching Little League Baseball for many years.

Lloyd was a member of PSEA and NEA, the Scottish Rite of Williamsport and Masonic Lodge 106 in Williamsport.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; one daughter, Abbie L. (Larry) Newcomer; one son, Todd S. Woodling; four grandchildren, Myrle E. Newcomer, Anna M. Newcomer, Christianna P. Woodling, and Kevin M. Woodling; two sisters, Myrtle Pipher, Marlene Woodling; one brother, Glenn Woodling. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Edithmae Smith and a brother-in-law, Charles P. Steele.

In keeping with his wishes, the funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests that memorial contributions in Lloyd's name be made to The Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
