WILKINSON, David, “Dick,” age 77 of Scottsboro, Ala., died on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

David played pro-baseball as a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds from 1952-1955. He attended Campbells Chapel Church in Stevenson, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Bessie Lou Coffelt Wilkinson; a brother, Don Wilkinson; three sisters, Dot Riggins, Betty Street and Judy Gattis; and a grandson, Lee Hastings.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Wilkinson of Scottsboro, Ala.; three daughters, Sharon Brownfield of Stevenson, Roberta (Dan) Roberts of Ft. Payne and LuAnn Hastings of Sylvania; a brother, James Henry “Bub” (Helen) Wilkinson of Estill Springs; four sisters, Clara Yates, Mary (Dennis) McBee, Linda (Larry) Cobb of Winchester and Debbie (Mike) Shockley of Cowan; sister-in-law, Cathey Wilkinson; brothers-in-law, Gabby Street and Charles Riggins; step-daughter, Michele Holt of St. Charles, Ill.; step-sons, Mark Holt of St. Charles, Ill. and Darrin Holt of Stevenson, Ala.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 2-10 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Stevenson, Ala. Funeral services will be conduced on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in the Cumberland Cemetery with Jerry Maynor officiating. Valley Funeral Home, 1214 Kentucky Ave., Stevenson, Ala., 256-437-9986.
