ARTHUR D. WHITE, 79, of Forked River, LACEY, died Friday, Jan. 25. He was born in Newark, and resided in the Vailsburg section of Newark, then Sayreville moving to Forked River 20 years ago. He was a 30 year veteran of law enforcement as a police captain with the Essex County Prosecutors Office in Newark, retiring in 1984. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. He pitched minor league baseball for the New York Giants from 1950-1952. He coached Little Leagueand Babe Ruth Baseball from 1960-1973. He was a member of the N.J. State Police Benevolent Association.

Arthur is predeceased by his brother, James J. White. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor Nicoletti; two sons, Arthur D. Jr. of Hackettstown, and Michael J. of Woodbridge; his sister,Jacqueline Krumm of Corpus Christi, Texas; four granddaughters, Kimberly, Nicole, Michelle, and Alicia; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Ava.

Visiting 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Growney Funeral Home, 1022 Lacey Road, Forked River. Mass of a Christian burial 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Manahawkin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur's memory to Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Community Medical Center 99 Route 37 W Toms River, NJ 08755.
