Leo Weinzierl, age 78, of Mayville, MI. passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Covenant Health Care/Cooper in Saginaw MI.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date with interment at Fremont Township Cemetery with Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #181 and Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884

Memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Medical Care Facility of Lapeer or to the Lions Club of Millington.

Leo was born November 4, 1933 to Richard and Antoinette (Preville) Weinzierl in Fostoria MI. He married Beverly Harris on October 19, 1991. Leo served in the Army 1954 – 1956. At that time he became interested in professional baseball and played for the Washington Senators Farm Team. Leo was an avid golfer. He retired from Vassar Public Schools in 1992, where he was Supervisor of maintenance and transportation.

Leo is survived by a daughter; Susie Kocks of Grand Blanc, MI., sisters; Dorothy Alexander of Flint MI., Delores (Marvin) Cranick of Fairgrove, MI., a brother; Dale (Sue) Weinzierl of Millington, MI, one sister-in-law; Dorothy (Bill) Irwin of Vassar, MI., and 2 brothers-in-law; John (Lois) Harris of Saginaw, MI., and Richard (Beth ) Harris of Mayville, MI., grandsons; Geoffrey and Jonathan Kocks of Grand Blanc, MI.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Beverly, brother; Robert Weinzierl, sister; Elizabeth Kreis, and his parents.
