WEHUST, John C. 87,
of Land O' Lakes, formerly of Tampa, passed away on March 10, 2009, at
his home.
He was born in East Otto, NY and came to Tampa in 1943. He was Christian
by faith. He was a Minor League baseball player for the Rochester Red
Wings before being drafted into the Army/Air Force where he served during
World War II.
He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #708 for over 50 years and a past
member of the Krewe of Venus.
John Clinton Wehust was larger than life. He could literally fill a door
way and he filled our hearts. He was the center of our family and for
each of us, a best friend. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia
of Land O' Lakes; 2 sons, John Jr. and David, both of Tampa; 3 daughters,
Coletta Piurowski and her husband, Paul of Land O'Lakes, Nanette Sherrill
and her husband, Mark of Tampa, Suzette Wehust of Spring Hill; 2 brothers,
Milton Wehust of Sheridan, NY, Robert Wehust of Yaucuppa, CA; 1 sister
Jeanne Stevens of Tionesta, PA; 4 grandchildren Missyand Mallory Sherrill,
Caz and Lizzy Piurowski.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at 1 pm, at
Northwest Tampa Church of Christ, 7259 Sheldon Road, Tampa. Brewer &
