Former Muskogee resident Brant L Weatherford, 46, died November 21, 2010 in Denton, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be held this Saturday, November 27, 2010, 11:00 AM at Holland Cemetery in Tahlequah. Viewings will be Friday, November 26th 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM at Millsap Funeral Service in Fort Gibson.

Brant was born May 14th, 1964 in Jacksonville, Florida, to Patricia Ann Davidson Weatherford and Harold Lee Weatherford. Brant was a 1982 graduate of Muskogee High School where he was an accomplished baseball player. Brant was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1982 and pitched in their farm system through 1986. Brant continued his professional baseball career with the Cincinnati Reds until his career was cut short by injury in 1987.

Never able to get baseball out of his system Brant continued to play semi professional softball for many years setting home run records across Oklahoma and the southeast.

Brant made his home in Denton, Texas where he worked as an HVAC contractor until shortly before his illness.

Brant was pre-deceased by his mother Patricia Ann Weatherford of Muskogee whom passed in 1999. Brant is survived by his father Harold Lee Weatherford of Dallas, Texas; his son Tyler Brant of Georgia; his sister and brother-in-law Laura Weatherford Reynolds and Grady Reynolds of Plano, TX; his sister and brother-in-law Brenda Stems Miller and Rick Miller of Muskogee; his sister and brother-in-law Terri Stems Jarvis and Alton Jarvis of Tonkawa, OK; his brother and sister-in-law JC and Janette Gillispie of Springdale, AR; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.

Pallbearers for the Saturday service are nephews Justin Mason and Steven Reynolds and life long friends David Mason, Steve Cook, Steve “Nubbin” Clark and Stacey Clark.
