Walter "Buzz" Way, 78, of Telford, passed away in the Brittany Pointe Skilled Care Unit on September 16, 2012, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Walter and Margaret (Litchendorf) Way of Tylersport. He enjoyed farming in his early years.

Walter married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jean Hunsberger and they would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on September 24.

Buzz was a graduate of Souderton High School Class of 1953 where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. Immediately after graduation he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals Farm Team and played in Georgia and Florida for two seasons.

A powerful hitter and strong third baseman, he also played locally with the Tylersport Tigers and the Perkiomen Twilight League for many years. He was inducted into the Tri-County Baseball League Hall of Fame in September, 2002.

An experienced toolmaker, he was employed with Philco/Ford/Visteon for 39 years, retiring in 1996 in the position of General Supervisor for Skilled Trades. Walt enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.

Following his retirement, he became involved with woodworking and was especially proud of his extensive workshop. He loved designing birdhouses. After illness limited his ability to move about freely, he became interested in watching his hummingbirds, gold finches and other local birds that came to his kitchen window. Buzz will also be missed by the squirrels in his neighborhood.

Survivors: A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by two children, Christopher Walter Way and his wife Debbie of Paradise, CA, and Colleen Denise Klingman and her husband John of Telford; and three grandchildren, AshLee and Peter Klingman and Jennifer Herrmann and her husband Andrew; three brothers, Robert and his wife Robin of Factoryville, PA, Richard and his wife Beverly and Bradey, all of Montrose, a sister, Beverly Grow of Springville, PA, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Anne Way.

Services: He was of the Lutheran faith, and services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 107 W. Lincoln Ave., Telford, PA 18969. Interment will follow in the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Pauls Lutheran Church at the above address.
