WASHBURN, ALLAN FRANKLIN - age 78 of Knoxville, formerly of Rockingham,
NC, died peacefully at home on Wednesday afternoon, December 19, 2007.
Allan was retired from Conoco Oil Company. He was a veteran of the Korean
Conflict serving with the 11th Airborne Division of the U S Army.
Allan played four years with the New York Yankees organization and was
a member of the 1945 American Legion Baseball National Championship team.
He was also an avid golfer.
Allan was born in Shelby, North Carolina to Charles and Leila Washburn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane
Washburn Reinhardt.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cona Fite Washburn; daughter and
son-in-law, Kelli and Larry Noble of Alabaster, AL; son and daughter-in-law,
Marty and Denise Washburn of Knoxville; grandchildren, Seth Washburn and
wife Wendy, Kyle Washburn and wife Rachel, Allan Neal and Laura Neal;
great granddaughter, Bailey Keen; sister, Virginia Hope of Spartanburg,
SC; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Friday followed by
a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel
with Rev. Rick Dunn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to the American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville,
TN 37909 or to Covenant Hospice, 3001 Lake Brook Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37909.
