Rochester, NH: Robert A. “Bob” Ward 81, of Rochester, NH and Port Richey, FL died June 2, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the Hyder Family Hospice, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on December 31, 1930 in Brookline, MA to Charles and Alice (Gagnon) Ward. Bob’s true passion was baseball, which he had a brief career in the minor and major leagues of his era, what stories he could share. After being injured he started a career as executive chef at Lombardo’s in Massachusetts from where he retired.

During his retirement he was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Douglas-Kaputo) Ward. Bob later met Sylvia (Portrie) Desmarais and they were married in 2007. Bob and Sylvia spent a lot of time vacationing and enjoying their time together. Bob enjoyed playing golf, it was another one of his passions, playing with friends and family as well as teaching his grandson’s. Bob and Sylvia also spent many hours watching their grandsons, Adam and Kyle during sporting events. Bob also loved to cook and entertain his family, sharing many gatherings together.

Bob Never said goodbye yet told you to have a nice trip, to which we all want to wish Bob a nice trip as he is welcomed into the Lords arms.

Bob is survived by his wife Sylvia (Portrie-Desmarais) Ward and step children, Betty (Caputo) Augusta and husband Patrick, Frank Caputo, William Caputo and wife Susan, Lisa Desmarais and husband Timothy Morgan, Nancy Carignan and husband Michael, grandchildren, Carrie Fantasia, Joseph Fantasia, Nicole Augusta, Frank Caputo Jr., Danny Caputo, Lauren Hutchinson, Matthew Caputo, Adam Carignan and Kyle Carignan, one great-grandchild Adriana Minichiello, two brothers, Richard Ward and wife Helen and David Ward.

There will be no calling hours at the request of the family, a Christian Mass will be celebrated June 8, 2012 at St. Mary’s Church, Lowell Street Rochester, NH at 11:00 AM.
