Boyd Howard Walls
Mr. Walls was born October 12, 1918 in LaGrange, son of the late Oscar William Walls and Ollie Bell Johnson Walls. He had lived in LaGrange all his life and was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church. Mr. Walls played semi-pro baseball for the Atlanta Crackers and LaGrange Troopers, and played class D baseball in the GA-AL League as a catcher. He was employed with Dixie Mills, McDonald Oil Company and Mike Patton Auto before retiring. Mr. Walls was a member of the V.F.W. and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Walls; two sons, Tony (Dannette) Walls of LaGrange and Boyd Winston (Mickey) Walls of Stoughton, MA; one step-daughter, Reva (Ronnie) Trenton of Valley, AL; two grandsons, Jake (Erika) Walls of Jacksonville, FL and Luke Walls of LaGrange; four step-grandchildren, Kim (John) OMalley, Leigh Ann (Daniel) Lovell, Shane Trenton, and Larry (Crystal) Pace; two sisters, Cynthia Taraborille of New Jersey and Jean Wilson of Springfield, VA; one brother-in-law, Rev. Fred (Marie) Thompson of Newton, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Ursula Ulla Walls of Springfield, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Max McCord, Reverend Fred Thompson, and Mr. Chris Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his wife, Mrs. Jewell Walls, and will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
