Richard 'Dick' Bernard
Waibel was born March 13, 1931 in Hillsboro to Frank C. and Mary F. (Eischen)
Waibel. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Nadyne C. Routtu, who
he met at the University of Oregon. Together they celebrated over 60 years
Dick played baseball for the Portland Beavers in the Pacific Coast League
from 1951 to 1956.
He was a member of ILWU Local 40 as a Supercargo for over 35 years.
A sports enthusiast, he also enjoyed hunting with his buddies. He loved
going to his grandson, Alex's baseball games, watching their team win
the Washington State championship in 2009 and 2011.
Dick is survived by his wife; son, Rick (Gail) Waibel; daughter, Kim (Greg)
Reese; grandsons; granddaughters; great-grandsons; and great-granddaughters.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, at St. Mary Magdalene
Catholic Church, 3124 NE 24th, Portland. The family requests donations
to be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children.
