James “Jim” Wadlow, age 90, passed away February 20, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born November 3, 1921 in Redford, Missouri to James T. and Anna J. Baker Wadlow. Jim grew up in Missouri, and spent his later years living in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jim loved fishing and camping with his wife Sylvia and family. One of his favorite spots was mile marker 18 in the Unita Mountains. He also enjoyed golfing, and just being in the outdoors. In his younger years he pitched in the minor leagues for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jim was a proud 50 year member of the U. A. Pipe Trades Local 57 and now Local 140, where he made a living as a union pipefitter and welder. He was a truly gifted welder, and used his welding skills working on construction projects around the country, including power plants, refineries and many other piping projects.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sylvia; five daughters: Gloria Ruble of Grandview, MO, Roseanne (Kim) Gentry of Big Horn, WY, Annette (Scott) Rossborough of Salt Lake City, UT, Debbie Wadlow (fiancé Rick Clutter) of Sheridan, WY, Joyce Soto of West Jordan, UT, two sons: James (Susan) Wadlow of Kansas City, MO, John (Sue) Wadlow of West Valley City, UT, two step sons: Steve “Dub” (Kandi) Miller of Salt Lake City, UT, Dave Mittelholtz of Salt Lake City, UT. He is also survived by his grandson Bryan Gentry (Melissa) and great-grandson Colter of Sheridan, WY, and granddaughter Christy (Gentry) Green (Dagan) and great-grandsons Riley and Rudy of Grants Pass. OR., along with many nieces and nephews. Other surviving grandchildren of Sheridan include Ranee Ann Wadlow and Vincent Whiting along with several other great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Joseph, his parents, and sisters Hilda and Mildred “Millie”. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Helen Wallitch in 2004.

A visitation with family and friends, in memory of Jim, is planned for Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, UT, from noon-1:45 p.m. burial will be at 2:00 p.m.
