Patrick P. “Pat”
Vescova, 99, beloved father, husband, and grandfather, passed away July
23, 2012, at Kirby Pines Manor. He was born July 22, 1913, to Valentino
and Ida Vescova in Memphis, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ann Elizabeth; his sister,
Janie Paccasassi; and brothers, Johnny and Alec Vescovo.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann (Bob) Latimer of Germantown,
TN; his grandsons, Patrick N. Latimer of Glendale, CA, and Andrew C. Latimer
of Germantown. Pat is also survived by his wife, Lucille Vick Vescova;
his sister, Pauline (Bill) Stuart of Memphis; and brother, Paul J. Vescova
(Shirley) of Germantown.
Pat was All-Memphis as quarterback at Catholic High, 1932-1933, where
they were Memphis City Champions. He played Kitty League baseball for
the Jackson Generals and Union City Greyhounds. Pat began his business
career in Memphis at Firestone Tire and Rubber when it opened in 1937
and retired 41 years later as Department Manager.
During WWII he served in the U.S Army as Sargent, where he played baseball
for the 3rd Army at Fort Oglethorpe, GA. He was an avid golfer and a member
of the Wyndyke Country Club for many years where he hit his first Hole
in One at the age of 71, and again at the ages of 84 and 85. He was inducted
into the Memphis Park Commission’s Hall of Fame in 1987. Mr. Vescova
was a member and communicant of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 56 years.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25th
at Memorial Park Funeral Home, the Funeral Mass will be at Holy Rosary
Catholic Church on Thursday, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at Memorial
