JACK VAN BIBBER,
MONTE VISTA Longtime Monte Vista resident Jack Van Bibber, 77, died at his home in the early morning hours of Dec. 29, 2009.
He was born on March 7, 1932 in Monte Vista to Noah Van Bibber and Mabel Sample. In his younger years he was a minor league baseball player. He Married Margaret Ann Kidd, they started their life together and were joined in union for 56 and a half years.
Jack was a teacher, a coach, an administrator and a mentor for so many people. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, he was a comedian, an arrowhead hunter, a member of the Monte Vista Elks Lodge, and the Monte Vista Golf Club. He loved spending time with and pestering his wife, kids and grand- and great-grandkids, his family was his life.
His dad, Noah Van Bibber; his mom, Mabel, and his stepdad, Purl Crook, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Van Bibber of Monte Vista; his children, John (Christy) Van Bibber of Littleton, Trixie Blackmon, Jeri (Larry) Gonzales and Terry (Connie) Van Bibber, all of Monte Vista; his sister, Lora (Darrell) Linville of Arvada; 14 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren and a cousin/nephew, Ronnie Wood of Monte Vista.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista.
Burial was in the Monte Vista Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Monte Vista Golf Club or to Hospice Del Valle in care of Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista.
