Emerson Samuel Unzicker Jr. age 78 of Hamilton passed away on Wednesday, July 13th. He was born August 15th, 1932 to Emerson and Grace Unzicker. He was a 1950 graduate of McGuffey High where he excelled athletically in basketball and baseball.

He soon moved on to play baseball professionally for the Dodger Minor Leagues from 1952-1958 where he married his wife Janice in uniform at home plate. He worked for American Materials for 20 years, and then began building houses that he turned into a successful rental business. He loved boating, gardening, traveling and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice (Herr) Unzicker; two sons, John Unzicker of Reily, OH and James (Gayle) Unzicker of Cincinnati, OH; one daughter Joan (Greg) Hymer of Hamilton, OH; Grandchildren John (Kelsey) Unzicker, Christina Unzicker, Nathan Hymer, Jacob Hymer, Ian Unzicker and Alyson Gawrych; one great- grand daughter, Madison Unzicker; his brother Arlyn of west Virginia; Sister Carol Myer of Fairfield, OH; and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son Jerry Unzicker; grandsons Gregory Edward Hymer and John Jacob Unzicker. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 17th from 2-4 p.m. at Avance Funeral Home& Crematory, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, Ohio, 45014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 18th at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church at 400 Nilles Road, Fairfield, Ohio, 45014.
