Albert J. Turner

Albert James Turner, 81, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at his residence
after an illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, in Beulah
Baptist Church in Pamplico, SC, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Waters-Powell
Funeral Home in Florence, and other times at the home of Jean Kenyon,
742 W. Shirley Rd., Pamplico, SC.
Mr. Turner was born in Hyman, SC, a son of the late Theodore Ellis and
Lula Christine Poston Turner. He was honorably discharged from the U.
S. Army, having served during the Korean War.
Following his military service and a short career in minor league baseball,
he was a farmer and also a mechanic with Wellman Industries.
A devoted family man, he loved his children, grands and great-grands.
He was a very loyal member of Beulah Baptist Church in Pamplico.
Mr. Turner was predeceased by his wife, Mell Turner; a sister, Beatrice
T. Chandler; and two brothers, Ernest Turner and Bennie Lee Turner.
Survivors include his step-daughter and her husband, Jean and Jerry Kenyon,
his step-son, Larry Young, all of Pamplico; three grandchildren, Celeste
Young and Kevin (Sherri) Kenyon, both of Florence, and Mark Kenyon of
Pamplico; six great-grandchildren, Ashton Young; Spencer, Conner and Bailey
Kenyon; and Kayle and Jeremy Kenyon; and four brothers, Maxie (Lib) Turner
of Florence, Russell (Debbie) Turner of Myrtle Beach, Harold (Inez) Turner
of Johnsonville, and Willie Turner of Lake City.
