Gordon V. Troy, 95, of Seton Manor, Orwigsburg, a former resident of Schuylkill Haven, died Thursday at Seton Manor.

He was born in Gordon in 1915, a son of the late William and Mary Gordon Troy.

He was the widower of Jean Rooney Troy, who died in 1986.

He was a graduate of Ashland High School and the Ford School of Business.

As a young man he was a professional athlete, working as the golf professional at Fountain Springs Country Club and later as a professional baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies Minor League teams in the Georgia-Florida and Eastern Shore Leagues. He was reinstated as an amateur golfer by the U.S.G.A. in 1951, and was a member of the Schuylkill Country Club, where he was a former club champion.

He worked for the Reading Railroad and retired from Conrail. He then worked as a courier for the Miners Bank, Pottsville, Sovereign Bank, and then the Law Offices of Rubright Domalakes Troy & McDonald.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and a lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He is survived by his son, Attorney Joseph P. Troy and his wife, Jackie, Schuylkill Haven; his daughter, Jan Troy, Bordentown, N.J.; four grandsons, Attorney Patrick J. Troy and his wife, Lauren, Philadelphia, Timothy J. Troy and his wife, Kari, Atlanta, Ga., Daniel J. Troy, Alexandria, Va., and Gregory J. Troy, Philadelphia.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick Cemetery, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions to Nativity BVM High School Memorial Fund, Lawton Hill, Pottsville PA 17901 or Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901. Geschwindt Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
