Robert Gerald Francis Trestler passed away peacefully on Wed. May 16 2012 in Reno NV where he had resided since 2001. Bob was born to Ruth and Frank Trestler in Oakland CA, on July 1, 1926. He graduated from Oakland Technical High School and attended St. Mary's College in Oakland, CA. He served in the US Navy from 1944-46. Following honorable discharge from the service he returned to love his love of baseball and pitched for the Reno Silver Socks from 1949-1951. Following his baseball career Bob joined the Oakland Police Department where he proudly served the City for 30 years. During and after his service he acted as the President of the Oakland Police Officers Association and Insurance Administrator.

Bob enjoyed a life long passion for baseball, coin collecting, travel and was an avid golfer for most of his life. Bob was a quiet man who always had a great story to tell. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jim and first wife Barbara.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Lausanne, his children Kim Carpenter (Dick), JoAnn Rasmussen (Russ), Robert Trestler Jr., Frank Trestler III, Karen Degney (Ken), Steve Young and Patrick Trestler, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren (and one on the way) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob kept his spirit, sense of humor and quick wit till the end and leaves behind not only his family but many friends about whom he cared deeply.

Memorial services will be held Monday May 21, at 10:00 AM at Final Wishes Funeral Home 437 Stoker Ave. Reno, NV and in Oakland CA on Wed. May 23, at 1:00 PM at Chapel of the Chimes 4499 Piedmont Avenue.

Private Burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
