COTEAU - Zenon "Bill" Trahan, Jr. passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. He donated his body to science to LSU Medical Center in New Orleans.

Mr. Trahan was born October 11, 1931 in Youngsville and was a resident of Coteau, LA. He was an all-star basketball player, and also played minor league baseball. Bill was a fan of the L.S.U Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. He worked in the oil field for 13 years for Garber Inc.; after retiring he became the proud owner of Acadiana Game Farm, his roosters were his hobby.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years Shirley Daigle Trahan of Coteau; one daughter, Patricia Schexnayder of Lafayette; two sons, Dale Trahan and his wife, Jenny of Maurice, and Kenneth Trahan and his wife, Darnell of Church Point; one step-son, Keith Guilbeau of Coteau; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Melancon of Crowley, Norma Meyers of Baker; Eulalie Broussard of Broussard, and Dianna Broussard of Youngsville.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Zenon Trahan, Sr.; his mother, Eunice Tabb; and one infant brother.
