Thomas, James L. "Jim" age 83, of Pell City, AL, died November 26, 2010.

Lifelong resident of Alabama. Attended Woodlawn High School, graduated in 1944, attended Auburn University, graduated in 1949 with a Mechanical Engineering Degree-member Kappa Sigma and lettered 3 years on the Auburn Baseball Team then played for the St. Louis Browns Organization.

Went into the furniture business later became co-owner and executive vice president of Furniture Distributors of Birmingham Inc. Married in 1952 to Elizabeth "Lib" Buck, the love of his life until her passing in 2008.

Deacon in the Baptist Church and Pell City First Baptist Church. Avid sportsman that loved water sports, hunting and baseball. He built one of the first lake homes on Lake Logan Martin where he spent many hours hosting his friends and family.

Beloved and respected by all that knew him.

Survivors include sons, Charles (Pam) Thomas, Gregory Lee (Betsy) Thomas, Scott (Sandy) Thomas; grandchildren, Justin Thomas, Summer (Jonathon) Dixon, Brian Hegerty, Mary Margaret Hegerty, Matthew Hegerty, Katie Thomas, Steven Thomas; great grandchildren, Noah Dixon, Avery Dixon.

Visitation will be Monday, November 29 from 10-11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel with Funeral Service at 11 a.m.

Burial in Forest Crest Cemetery, Birmingham, AL.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lakeside Hospice.
