Alan C. Thomaier, 88, of Joffre St., Nashua passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Gate City Rehabilitation following a period of declining health.

Alan was born in Jersey City, NJ, on May 26, 1920, a son of the late Conrad Sr. & Ellen (Mannion) Thomaier.

Alan was a longtime Nashua resident and was a graduate of the former Nashua Spence Business College. He had been employed by the Nashua Police Dept. where he received heroic commendations three times, and the Nashua Post Office from where he retired.

Alan was a WWII US Navy veteran. He was an avid POW/ MIA campaigner and defender of a free America. Alan was a member of the John Birch Society against Communism for 45 years

Alan had played for 5 semi-professional baseball teams including the historic 1947 Nashua Dodgers where he roomed with Don Newcombe.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
