Kenneth J. "Rip" Therrian, age 91, longtime resident of Kingston, New Hampshire, died peacefully Thursday afternoon at Exeter Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born in Claremont,
New Hampshire, January 12, 1921, he was one of three children of the late
Paul J. and Eva (Valley) Therrien and was a graduate of Stevens High School
in Claremont, where he was a Tri-Varsity All Star in Football, Basketball
and Baseball, as well as an All State Player in all three sports.
"Rip", a nickname he received after "ripping" a basketball net during one of his all star games, was a lifelong sports fan as wells as an avid golfer and fisherman.
Mr. Therrian was manager of the blueprint engineering department at Western Electric in Andover, where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of Gideon Lodge No. 84, F. & A.M. of Kingston, N.H., for more than 50 years as well as a Past Master of the Lodge, member of the Scottish Right Masons and a faithful attendant of the Episcopal Church.
Rip was predeceased by his devoted wife, Ruth E. (Lewis) Therrian, who died September 21, 2005, his brother George; his sister, Doris Goyette; and two nieces, Chloe Rourke and Doreen Rowell. His survivors include his nephews, Paul Goyette and wife Marion of Belmont, NH and Edward Goyette and wife Gail of Round Rock, TX; two nieces, Donna R. Lewis of Concord, NH and Patricia A. (Lewis) Hoyt and husband Peter of Amesbury; grandnieces and grandnephews, Johanna P. Kimball and husband Derek of Amesbury; Gregory P.L. Hoyt of Los Angeles, CA; Jake Keeler and wife Eleanor of Portland, ME; Laura L. Keeler of Arlington, VA; Jeffrey Goyette of Palmer, AK; Michele Tenhoff of Albertville, MN; Cynthia Goyette of Arvada, CO; and Teresa Ells and Amy Goyette both of Round Rock, TX; great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, twins, Trevor and Samantha Kimball; Bailey Kimball; Asa Keeler; twins, Abbey and Jimmy Goyette; Kimberly Mills; twins Jon and Sam Goyette; and Emily Goyette, along with dear friends, Peter and Ellie Coffin of Kingston, NH and Muriel Andernacht of Kingston, NH and Florida.
will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Highland Chapel
of Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury,
followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston, NH.
