Robert Taylor, 66, former Saugus resident of 35 years, passed away on December 6, 2010 in Las Vegas after complications of hip surgery.

He was the husband of Sandra (Tisei) and father to Deanne Taylor, PhD of New Jersey and Bryan Taylor of East Dennis and grandfather to four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was born and raised in Somerville, and became a star athlete. Bob played professional baseball with the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics in his youth and later became a Union pipefitter, involved in the construction of many Boston landmark buildings.

He had fond memories of serving as president of Saugus Youth Hockey and coach of Taylor's Whalers peewee hockey team. He also refereed for Little League and served as a coach.

Bob and his family lived in the Golden Hills until his retirement to Las Vegas in 2007.

A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday April 23 from 1pm to 5pm at the VFW Hall at 1012 Mystic Ave. Medford MA.
