Herbert W. Taylor 75,
Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Born September
6, 1933 in Clay City, IN, he was the son of Herbert R. and Emma (Lovell)
Taylor, who preceded him in death. His sisters, Emma Cruea and Ruth Clatterbuck
and brother, Don Taylor also preceded him in death.
Mr. Taylor retired from the Indianapolis Police Department in 1978 after
20 years of service and later worked security at General Motors for 13
years.
He was a member of Garfield Christian Church, a 1951 graduate of Emmerich
Manual High School and played professional baseball with the Pittsburg
Pirates farm team and the Indianapolis Southside Saints.
Survivors include his wife, Judith A. (Pedersen) Taylor; his children,
Herbie (Rita) Taylor, Beth (Jim) Lyman; Gina (James) Cromwell; his sisters,
Betty Aldridge; Mary Choat, Dona (Clarence) Pierce, Peggy (Loren) Davidson;
his brothers, Joe (Thelma) Taylor, David (Sandy) Taylor; his grandchildren,
Joshua and Jamie Lyman and Taylor Graham; 2 great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Garfield
Christian Church, 1751 E. Walker Ave., with calling there Sunday, Nov.
16, 2008 from 2 to 5 p.m.
