Anthony F. Veverka,
age 91, passed away Monday, August 4, 2008 in Stuart, Florida. He was
a long time resident of Gatlinburg, Tennessee and was preceded in death
by his beloved wife, Mildred Veverka, after 65 years together.
He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Catholic Order
of Foresters, and the Retired Citizens of the Smokies.
He was retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Tony was known as an
avid bridge player and was a member of two bridge clubs in Sevier County
and three in Florida.
He was an excellent minor league baseball player in the 1930s, playing
in Texas under the name Tony Swift because of his speed. He was a diehard
Chicago Cubs fan, loved all sports, but mainly loved his family. Well
miss you.
Survivors:
Son and daughter-in-law: Ken and Martie Veverka and her children Jamey
and Brittney of Stuart, Florida.
Daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn and Carl Catalano of Oak Lawn, IL.
Grandchildren: Chris Catalano of Oak Lawn, IL; Kim Schilingo of Westmont,
IL.
Sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Emil Cizek of Cresthill, IL;
Mary and Ed Niehoff of Westmont, IL.
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass 10
AM Monday, Aug 11th at St. Marys Catholic Church, Gatlinburg with
Monsignor Philip F. Thoni officiating.
Interment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will
receive friends 3-5 PM Sunday, Aug 10th at Atchleys Smoky Mountain
