Keith E. (Lefty) Sweazy, 79, of Mottville Township, died Friday, July 13, 2012, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Elkhart, Ind., a son of Robert and Hazel (Ruh)?Sweazy.

He was a resident of Mottville Township for 42 years, coming from Elkhart, Ind., and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

On June 17, 1972, he married Alice F. Griffin in White Pigeon.

Keith was employed in the recreational vehicle industry and was a woodworker for J-Mar Design in Elkhart for 20 years.

He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge #290 in Vandalia, a member of the American Legion in Bristol, Ind., a woodworker, clock maker, enjoyed Detroit Tigers baseball, Indiana University basketball and Notre Dame football. He played minor league baseball for the Milwaukee Braves.

Surviving are his wife, Alice F. Sweazy of Mottville; four daughters, Linda (Tom)?Wilson of Elkhart, Valerie St. Germain of Chicago, Sharrise (Mike)?McCrorey of Elkhart and Trina (Steve)?Boatman of Mottville; son, Jeff (Nancy)?Sweazy of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Becky Sweazy of Traverse City; a brother, Tom Sweazy of Traverse City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has been conducted. Graveside services and burial of cremains will take place at 4 p.m. Friday, July 27, at the Mottville Township Cemetery. An open house will follow at his home.

Donations to the Three Rivers Hospice. Envelopes are available at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, which is in charge of arrangements.
