LANCASTER: Philip Vernon Swanson, age 76 of Lancaster OH, died Thursday, July 14 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus OH. He was born February 18, 1935 in Kane PA to the late Carl and Bertha (Olson) Swanson.

He was a retired salesman for Bath Fitters, a former minor league pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, and served in the US Army as a military policeman in Alaska.

He is survived by daughters, Stephanie (Robert) La Monte of Columbus Oh, Jennifer (James) De Pietro of Lancaster OH, Kirsten Bowen of Johnstown OH; grandchildren, Chelsea, Nena, April and Shannon La Monte, Meghan, Christopher and Ryan De Pietro, Philip and Andrew Bowen; brother, Michael (Lynn) Swanson of Wisconsin; special friend, Phyllis Robbins of Tennesse. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Eugena (Kane) Swanson.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 8:00 pm in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster OH. Friends may call 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home. Caring Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later date in Gibbs Cemetery, Ludlow PA.
