Robert B. Stokes Sr. of Upper Moreland Township, Hatboro passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, Pa. He was 84.

He was born March 11, 1928 in Roslyn, Pa.

He was the husband of M. Patricia (Jenkins) Stokes, married for 66 years on Feb. 23, 2012.

Robert was a salesman for Philadelphia Turf Co. and retired in 1996 after 30 years.

He was the son of the late Harry B. and Alice (Collins) Stokes. He was a lifelong resident of the area.

He was a graduate of Abington High School, Class of 1945. He played baseball with the Dodgers farm team (Ogdensburg Maples) in New York from 1946 to 1947.

He was past president of the Glenside Kiwanis Club. He was an active member of Abington High School Alumni Association. He loved to play tennis, which he did well into his 70's. He worked as a Ranger at Limekiln Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, M. Patricia Stokes of Hatboro; his children: Robert B. Stokes Jr. (Debbie) of Hatboro, Richard Stokes (Melody) of Pflugerville, Texas, Jayne Stokes of Audobon, N.J., Lori Kopfinger (Michael) of Arnot, Pa.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Pinky Becker of Chalfont.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at John R. Freed Funeral Home, 124 N. Easton Road, Glenside, Pa.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, Pa.
