Born in Manchester, NH on May 22, 1935, he was the son of Edmond and Helen (Piecuch) Stemska. He resided in Manchester, NH before moving to Goffstown in 1963.
Mr. Stemska graduated from Bishop Bradley High School, Class of 1953. He attended Hesser Business College and New Hampshire College.
He served with the United States Army and was stationed in the Panama Cannel zone.
During his military service, Mr. Stemska played baseball with the Pan American League. He was scouted by many professional baseball teams, including the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. He signed with the Cincinnati Red in 1957.
Until his retirement, Mr. Stemska worked in sales and marketing with St. Johnsbury Trucking Company for 34 thirty-four years.
He was a member of the Winnipesaukee Yacht since 1963. He was a longtime communicant of Saint Hedwig Church.
Mr. Stemska was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, boating and home landscaping projects with his family.
In his life: Family members include his wife, Shirley (Menzies) Stemska with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in February, two sons, Edmund Joseph Stemska of Corona, CA and Robert Charles Stemska and his wife, Lisa of Goffstown, NH; two grandchildren, Erika Jaye Stemska and Allison Jean Stemska both of Goffstown, NH.
Services: Calling hours are Wednesday form 5 to 8 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 10AM in Saint Hedwig Church, Manchester, NH.
Burial with military honors will take place in Saint Hedwig Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
