Walter Young Sprouse

- Walter Young Sprouse, 77, of 110 Country Club Road, went home to be
with the Lord on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Dillon Pointe Assisted Living.
Born in Gaffney, he was a direct descendent of Michael Gaffney. He was
the husband of Ann Lovingood Sprouse for 58 years and the son of the late
Erston Young Sprouse and Mary Gaffney Sprouse and step-son of Ethel Davis
Sprouse of Gaffney.
He retired from Kohler and construction work. He was a graduate of Gaffney
High School, where he played baseball and was drafted by the Washington
Senators. He was a former Little League Football and Baseball coach. He
had a great love for Gospel Music and especially enjoyed listening to
Gold City. He also enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and fishing.
Mr. Sprouse was a member of Limestone Street United Methodist Church,
where he was also a choir member.
Surviving are two sons, Mike Sprouse and fiance’, Donna Williams
of Mooresboro and Tim Sprouse and wife, Jan of Gaffney; a brother, Hugh
Sprouse and wife, Diane of Gaffney; a granddaughter, Janna Sprouse; and
a great-grandchild, Daelayn Sprouse.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday, November
4, 2012 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow
4:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Singleton and
Rev. Joyce Murphy officiating.
Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
