PLYMOUTH: Robert D. Smith, age 86, a lifelong resident of Plymouth, Ohio passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard, Ohio. He was born on July 6, 1925 in Richmond Township, Ohio to the late Charles and Emma "Kate" (Biller) Smith. The youngest of thirteen, Bob was a graduate of Willard High School and Heidelberg College. He played shortstop in the Cleveland Indians Farm System. Bob served his country as an army veteran of WWII.

He was employed at the Autocall in Shelby until his retirment in 1987. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth and the Shiloh American Legion. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school and sports activities, bowling and Plymouth High School basketball games.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith; one son, Rob (Marcella) Smith; two granddaughters, Taylor and Carly Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and twelve brothers and sisters.

Friends may call on the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM. The Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Ohio at 11:00 AM with Rev. Carol Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio.
