Robert Slencak of New Cumberland, PA passed away Tuesday Feb. 6, 2013 while vacationing in Tampa Bay, Florida. He was born in Sagamore, PA on July 25, 1935 and grew up in Harmar Twp.

Bob was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret "Puro" Slencak. He attended Springdale High School, graduated from New Kensington High School and Youngstown State University.

Bob played minor league baseball for the Cincinnati Reds. He was an educator at George Junior Republic in Grove City before becoming director at both the Washington and New Cumberland County Nursing Homes.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and member of the Elks. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports, taking walks, going to the casino and spending time with his six grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Kimberly) Slencak of Bel Air, MD; daughters, Linda Penney of Mechanisburg, PA, Lori del Castillo of Longwood, FL; his brother, Edward (Jane) Slencak of Cheswick; a sister, Carol Czwalga of Springdale; sister-in-law, Jean Slencak of Grove City.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah "Sally" Rebo; his brother, Irvin "Steve" Slencak; brother-in-law, Edmund Czwalga.

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends, especially the Mummert family (Jen, Jeff, Jake and Maren) with whom he lived.

There will be no public visitation at the request of the family.
