HURT Robert (Rusty) Marshall Shelton Jr., 50, of Hurt, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at his residence.

Born March 6, 1959, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Robert Marshall Shelton Sr. and Betty Terry Shelton. He was a member and former Deacon of New Prospect Baptist Church and was a senior accountant for Conner Produce. Mr. Shelton was drafted and signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team out of high school. He was an avid sports fan and was a former coach of Lynchburg Little League Baseball.

He is survived by a son, Robert Stewart Shelton, of Lynchburg, and a daughter, Berkley Rene Shelton, of Lynchburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at New Prospect Baptist Church by the Rev. Brady Willis. Burial will follow in the Shelton family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, March 3, 2010, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his children, Robert and Berkley Shelton, 124 Fieldstone Court, Lynchburg.
