Troy N. Sears,
77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Mississippi Baptist
Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday, June 18, 2010, at Lakewood Funeral Home
in Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010,
at 2 pm in the Chapel at Lakewood with the family receiving friends starting
at 1 pm.
Troy Newbold Sears was born in Belhaven, NC on June 18, 1932. He graduated
from John A. Wilkinson High School in Belhaven. He served his country
honorably in the United Stated Army. He was a long time resident of Clinton,
MS and Baptist in faith. Mr. Sears was an avid hunter, fisherman and a
member of the Rockport Hunting Club. He enjoyed cooking and dancing, and
never met a stranger.
Mr. Sears also played professional baseball with the Washington Senators,
before becoming a District Manager for Union National Insurance. After
retiring, he started his own business, Sears Delivery Service, in the
Jackson rea.
Mr. Sears was a loving husband, father and friend to all. He was married
to the love of his life, Sarah Sears, for 46 years.
Mr. Sears was preceded in death by his father, Willie Sears; his mother,
Mary E. Sears Barnes; his sisters, Helen Snow, Catherine Crews, Mary Wallace,
and Joyce Ann Sears; his brother, Willie Sears; his stepfather, Charles
"Papa" Barnes; a very special mother-in-law, Grace Myrtle Lemmons;
and his daughter, Grace Catherine Sears.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Sears; his sons, Troy Dewayne Sears,
David T. Sears, Joseph Todd Sears, and Jonathan Scott Sears; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He will be missed greatly by his favorite dog, Haley.
