Stanley Schwengels,
73, of Okawville, Ill., born Oct. 21, 1934, in Addieville, Ill., departed
this life at 7:27 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville,
Ill.
Mr. Schwengels served in the United States Air Force and he proudly served
with the Missouri Air National Guard for over 30 years until retirement.
Stanley was the first manager of the McDonalds on West Main in Belleville.
He worked as a shipping clerk at the E.M. Wiegmann Company in Freeburg
for 26 years, until his retirement. After retiring Stanley kept busy with
several other jobs including Central Illinois Transit in Centralia, the
senior nutritional site in Carlyle and most recently at the Okawville
Senior Center.
Stanley was a member of American Legion Post 233 in Okawville and had
served on its Honor Guard. He was also a former member of the Okawville
Lion's Club and a former member of a bowling league. He loved softball
and baseball and was a player and later the manager for the Titans softball
team in Freeburg for many years.
Stan also played minor league baseball in the Cleveland Indians organization
as a pitcher for a couple of years. Stanley enjoyed remodeling old homes
with his wife, Pat and they also loved to travel. Most of all Stanley
was devoted to his family and loved them dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Adele, nee Bender,
Schwengel; and three brothers, Wilbert in infancy, Melvin and Lester.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Pat, nee Coleman, Schwengels, whom
he married on July 7, 1978, in the Christ United Methodist Church in Fairview
Heights, Ill.; six children, Sherry (Scott) Giles of Brownstown, Robbi
(Marcus) Sierra of Osprey, Fla., Cindy (Dave) Conley of New Athens, Traci
(Troy) Baker of Venice, Fla., Kim (Dennis) Sanden of Baldwin and Robert
Graves of Swansea; a sister, Irene Toensing of Okawville; 11 grandchildren,
Dawn(Gary) Crowl Tim Crowl, Joe Crowl, Kristen (Rob) Crowl, Travis Crowl,
Eric Sierra, Ian Baker, LCPL Keith Sanden, Keri Sanden, Josh Conley and
PFC 3 Nathan Conley; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins
and a host of friends.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Okawville Senior Center
or to the charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted by the Campagna
Funeral Home.

and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Campagna Funeral

services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Campagna Funeral
Home, Okawville, Ill., with Pastor Jeffrey Schwab officiating. Interment
will be in the O'Fallon City Cemetery at O'Fallon, Ill.
