Ralph A. Schivone

Ralph A., age 88, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012. He was born on
April 17, 1924 to the late Ralph and Mary Schivone in Chicago, IL.
As a young man, Ralph proudly served his country during World War II in
the U.S. Navy. Upon his return, he played baseball in the Minor Leagues
for two years for the Cubs and the Pirates and then graduated from Drake
University in 1950.
Ralph and his wife Paula met in New York City and were married in 1963.
Ralph was retired from Borden, Inc. where he was a Manager of Employee
Benefits. They were long time residents of Upper Arlington and recently
moved to West Chester, OH.
Ralph shared his great passion for baseball as a volunteer varsity baseball
coach for Upper Arlington High School from 1989 to 2011. He was recently
inducted into the Central District Baseball Coaches Association Hall of
Ralph was an opera enthusiast and an avid reader. He will be greatly missed
by his family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Otto and Michael. He is survived
by his loving wife, Paula; sons, Joe (Cindy) Schivone, and John Schivone;
daughter, Nan (Dan) Schivone Werner; grandchildren, Dominic, Sophia, Abe,
Zeke and Carmella; and his 93 year-old sister, Carmella Schivone.
Friends may call from 2-5 pm, Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the SCHOEDINGER
NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Rd., Upper Arlington, OH 43221. A funeral
liturgy and internment will be held at 2 pm, Monday, June 11, 2012 at
the Dayton National Cemetery.
