Willard W. 'Willie'
Schadewald, 74, of 2424 Oakes Ave died Wednesday Jan. 9, 2008 in his home
following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 3, 1933 in Duluth and had
been a longtime time Superior resident.
Willie enjoyed sports, he had played baseball for the Duluth Dukes as
a catcher and had played football at U.M.D.. He also had played fast pitch
for several teams over the years, he also enjoyed Golf and bowling.
He retired from the Burlington Northern Railway after 30 years of service
as a foreman on the bridge and building dept. Prior to that he was a carpenter
and also had been employed by Arrowhead Pest Control.
Willie is survived by his wife, Jan; a son, Steven (Lisa) Schadewald of
Duluth; grandchildren, Nathan, Wade and Kristina Schadewald and Rose (Martin)
Ploski; a brother, George ( Judy) Schadewald of Cannon Falls Minn. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Kathryn Schadewald; a
son, Brian and a brother, Fred.
FUNERAL SERVICE:noon Monday in the Downs Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Baranow
officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial
will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded by the combined honor guard post 137
