Robert Winston Sanders, age 82, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on May 8, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, to join his beloved wife, Shirley.

Bob was born August 16, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Oscar Sanders and Signe Johnson Sanders. After the passing of Oscar, Signe married David L. Carlson, who lovingly joined the family.

Bob married Shirley Ellen Jukes on November 22, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bob had a passion and love for baseball and played professional ball for the Cincinnati Reds. Bob was an avid fan of the Utah State Aggies and the New York Yankees. Bob also enjoyed boating at Flaming Gorge and duck hunting with family and friends.

In Bob's career, he worked as a professional painter, County Sheriff for the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department. Also, he worked for the Utah State Department of Recovery Services and the County Attorney's Office.

He is survived by his five children: Dianne (Wayland) Starks, Pat Sanders, Jody (Allen) Peterson, Cindy (Charlie) Huggard, and Gordon (Lezlie) Sanders; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, both parents, stepfather David Carlson, brother Gordon O. Sanders and grandson Chad Riding.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Valley View Memorial located at 4335 W. 4100 So., West Valley City, Utah.

A viewing will be held Wednesday evening, May 11, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services.
