NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Harry Thomas Rowland, 80, husband of Louise C. Dye Rowland, of Stanton Drive, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at his residence.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2011 in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Riley officiating.

Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park with Full Military Honors accorded by American Legion Post #71.

Mr. Rowland retired from the maintenance department with the Richmond County Board of Education and also worked with Frog Hollow Reunion for over 25 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War in the US Navy, a former pro baseball player and a member of the GA High School Umpires Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 192 in Evans, GA, the Past Commander of GA 11th District of the American Legion and was also a Legionnaire of the Year.

Additional survivors include two sons, Curtis Rowland and Craig Rowland and his wife Sandy all of Sacramento, CA; three stepsons, Gregory Dye of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Stephen Dye and Gary Dye both of North Augusta; one daughter, Cheryl Mega of Sacramento, CA; two brothers, Charles Buddy Rowland and his wife Daisy and Wilton Rowland and his wife Harriet all of Augusta; two sisters, Voncile Tudor and Bessie Neal both of Augusta; 3 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Rowland, Craig Rowland, Kyle Rowland, Joel Ozborn, Lawrence Doolittle, and Frank Berry.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion and the Korean War Veterans Association.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, Friday, September 9, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00. Memorials may be made to the Fisher House or Wounded Warriors, 1 Freedom Way, Augusta, GA 30904.
