Richard D. Rose, 71,
of Berryton, passed away on Sept. 21, 2011 at his home. Richard was born
September 17, 1940 in Garden City, Kansas.
He graduated from Salina High School. After graduation he played minor
league baseball for the Angels and Red Sox. He later took a job with Capital
Federal in Kansas City. He transferred to Topeka in 1973. After retiring
from Capital Federal as a Senior Vice-President, he owned and managed
properties in the Topeka area. He volunteered at the Great Overland Station.
He is survived by his life-partner, Bette Allen whom he had spent the
past 34 years with. Other survivors include two daughters, Kelly Gubbins
and husband Danny of Olathe and Deborah Gordon and husband Keith of Scottsdale,
AZ; sons, Richard Allen and wife Amy of St. Louis, Ryan Allen and wife
Jacqueline of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Kendall Wilson, Nicole Gubbins,
Jason Gubbins, Riley, Brock, Brady Gordon, Brandon Allen, Taylor Allen
and Izadora Allen; brother, Gerald Rose and wife Jeannie of Topeka and
nephews, Brent and Kale Rose.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at
Davidson Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Lynn Creek Cemetery north of Berryton.
Mr. Rose will lie at Davidson Funeral home from 1-7 pm on Sunday where
the family will receive friends from 3-4 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Great Overland Station in care
of the funeral home.
