Rollins, Gary G., 63,
of Pompano Beach, passed away March 27, 2009 from repercussions of Pancreatic
Cancer.
He was born March 11, 1946 to Arling and Catherine Rollins in Greenwood,
NY. In 1960 the farm was sold and the family moved to Addison, NY where
Gary starred in basketball, baseball and soccer.
He graduated from Addison Central High School in 1964 and in 1965, Gary
signed a baseball contract with the New York Mets. He loved sports and
had season tickets for the Florida Marlins, Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes
football.
He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.
He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Masters Degree in
Education and taught in the Broward County School District for 30 years.
He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine Rollins. Those left to cherish
his memory are his loving wife of 17 years, Beatrice; father, Arling (Larene)
Rollins; sisters, Rosemary (Larry) Spencer and Gayla (Roger) Rounds, both
of Addison, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, March 31, 2009, 1:00 -
2:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 200 North Federal
Highway, Pompano Beach where funeral services will begin at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gary's memory
to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, P.O. Box 016960 (M867),
Miami, FL 33101-6960.
