Aug. 4, 1942 - May 20, 2009 Resident of San Leandro Ron died May 20, 2009
after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ron was the loving husband of Mary and is also survived by his adoring
children Matthew (Jessica) Rodriguez and Leah (Patrick) Schrickel; his
beloved mother Narcissa; his sister Janice (Robert) Seeley and brother
Donald (Rhonda) Rodriguez; in-laws Ben, Ruth, Peter and Sara Leadholm;
also many nieces and nephews including Randy (Cathy) Max and Heather Seeley;
Renee Seeley; Rachel, Kevin and Jeffrey Rodriguez; Ben (Pushpa), Rachael,
and Jessa Leadholm; Samuel (Emily) Evelyn and Frances Leadholm; Jesse
Leadholm; and Joshua Leadholm.
Ron was born in San Leandro, graduated in 1960 from San Leandro High where
he played basketball and baseball. He was an avid baseball player and
pitched in high school and college and played for the Minnesota Twins'
Organization.
Later he pursued his degree in education and taught and coached at American
High School in Fremont, California for 30 years. He furthered his education
in counseling and retired in 2003 after touching the lives of many students.
Family and friends were a top priority for Ron. Married since l969 to
his wife Mary with whom he traveled all over the United States and the
world, they were well known for their convivial hospitality. Their "
Do Drop Inn" was continually full of family and friends whom Ron
openly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed.
Ron had a passion for golf and loved the camaraderie of his golfing buddies.
He gave generously of his time and money to the community and charitable
organizations. He spent many years as a team leader, with Mary, for the
American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Ron enjoyed life to the fullest,
his trademark expression being, "Life is Good". He will be greatly
missed.
A Memorial Service celebrating Ron's life will be held on Wednesday, May
27th at 11:00A.M. at the Marina Community Center in San Leandro. 15301
Wicks Blvd. San Leandro, California.
In lieu of flowers donations, in Ron's memory, may be made to San Leandro
Scholarship Foundation and mailed to San Leandro High School, 2200 Bancroft
Avenue, San Leandro, CA 94577.
A yearly scholarship will be given to a deserving college bound senior
in Ron's name.
