James Horace Roberts

ROBERTS, JAMES HORACE, age 63, of Dora, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Dora; was an avid softball player and played professional baseball in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization from 1967-68.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Foles will officiate.

Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper.

Visitation is Tuesday from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Roberts and Doris Roberts Cole; and a brother, Danny Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Tyra Roberts of Dora; son, Dameon Blake Roberts of Dora; stepfather, Tommy Cole of Bagley; step brothers, Tim Cole and wife Gina of Dora and Tommy Cole, Jr. of Bagley; and his father and mother in law, Thomas and Sally Mayberry of Dora.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church-Building Fund, 7000 Bethel Rd., Dora, AL 35062.
