His Legacy... Elvin Merril Ritt, age 77, passed away on March 8, 2013 in Ann Arbor surrounded by his loving family. Al was born on April 11, 1935 in Bellaire, Michigan to Merrill and Lena Ritt.

He was a skilled baseball player and played minor league baseball for Kansas City Athletics in Grand Island, Nebraska.

On August 1, 1958 he married Audrey (Darnell) Ritt, they settled in Dexter and together they raised 4 children. Al was a well-known man in his community. He was a real-estate agent for 10 years and worked for Hudson Mills Golf Course. He is best known in his community as the Athletic Director of Dexter Community Schools from 1975 to 1989.

In honor of Al the community named their football stadium after him. He loved playing and coaching sports, but what he enjoyed the most was being a mentor to the students and players that he encountered during his teaching and coaching years. He loved to get to know them all on a personal level and loved each and every one of them like family.

His Family... Surviving Al is his devoted wife of 54 years, Audrey Ritt of Dexter, loving children, Alan (Diana) Ritt of Longmont, CO, Tracy (Doug) Marrin of Dexter, Michael (Stena) Ritt of Freeland, and Patrick Ritt of Dexter. Also surviving is his mother, Lena Snodgrass, grandchildren, Larry (Rachel) Marrin, Candice Marrin, Zhenya Ritt, Kennedi Ritt, great grandchildren, Brendan and Drake Marrin, brothers, Robert (Kim) Ritt and David Ritt.

Preceding Al in death is his father Merrill Elvin Ritt.

His Farewell... The family will gather with friends on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM At Dexter United Methodist Church.

A Simple Farewell will be held on Saturday March 16, 2013 1PM at the church with gathering to start at Noon.
