LONGVIEW — Funeral services for Billy Jack Reeves, 73, of Longview,
will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, at Oakland Heights Baptist Church,
with the Rev. Kevin Bright officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood
Park. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mr. Reeves passed away Friday morning at a local hospital, after a long
courageous battle with Parkinson's and cancer. The family will receive
friends from 4-6 p.m. today January 15, 2012, at the funeral home.
Billy Jack, the son of Otis and Ruby Reeves, was born June 29, 1938, in
Gladewater, Texs, where he grew up and graduated high school. He was also
a graduate of East Texas State University. He played professional baseball
for the Cincinnati Reds farm team. Mr. Reeves taught school and was a
coach at Ware and Valley View Elementary. He worked at Texas Eastman and
retired after 30 years of service.
He was married to the love of his life, Joy Ann Morrow, on June 17, 1967.
He was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church, where he served as
a deacon. He was an avid golfer, jokester. He loved his family and friends
and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Joy Morrow
Reeves; his daughters, Jill Reeves from Dallas and Jan Morton and her
husband, Josh, from Carbondale, Colorado; and other extended family and
